Farasis Energy Achieves Milestone in Battery Technology with Million-Mile Battery Testing

In a groundbreaking development, Farasis Energy has successfully tested its revolutionary battery cells, bringing the company one step closer to achieving the elusive million-mile battery. This achievement places Farasis Energy among the select few companies worldwide that have accomplished this feat.

The testing of Farasis Energy’s NCM chemistry cells, specifically the P75 and P73 models, involved rigorous evaluation of their cyclic and calendar aging characteristics. Developed since 2018, these cells have undergone extensive testing and analysis, leading engineers to confidently assert that battery packs utilizing these cells can last a million miles over 15 years while retaining over 70% of their capacity.

What sets Farasis Energy’s testing apart is its focus on real-world conditions. Factors such as cell temperature, depth of discharge, charge rate, discharge rate, pressure, and storage temperature were all taken into account during testing. The company incorporated strenuous usage scenarios, including fast charging and high depth of discharge, to ensure that the cells perform optimally in various conditions representative of major automotive markets.

The achievement of a million-mile battery is made possible through advanced materials and technology. Farasis Energy’s cells feature separators coated with semi-solid gel, optimized cathode and anode materials, and an improved charging strategy to reduce capacity loss. These cells not only offer long life but also high energy density, fast charging capabilities, and thermal propagation mitigation.

Commercial vehicles, such as buses and heavy-duty trucks, stand to benefit greatly from Farasis Energy’s long-lasting battery packs. With lower operating costs compared to traditional diesel engines, electric powertrains offer significant financial and environmental advantages to operators and the public.

Top players in the electric vehicle market have already recognized the potential of Farasis Energy’s million-mile battery technology. These cells have been independently evaluated to last over 10,000 flight cycles in the eVToL market, making them the preferred choice over other cell types.
