CSIR-NIIST Boosts Startup Ecosystem with New Innovation Centre

In a significant development for the startup ecosystem, the CSIR-National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science Technology (CSIR-NIIST) has established a dedicated innovation centre on its campus to support technology-driven start-ups in creating innovative and marketable products.

The inauguration of the facility was carried out by Krishna Ella, chairman and managing director of Bharat Biotech International Ltd and chairman of the research council of CSIR-NIIST. The event was attended by CSIR-NIIST Director C Anandharamakrishnan.

According to a recent press release, agreements have been finalized with selected incubatees, and the keys to the co-working spaces were handed over on May 1, signaling the beginning of their collaboration with the institute.

The newly established facility aims to provide a conducive environment for developing and translating scientific and technical knowledge into innovative products, ultimately transforming them into successful commercial ventures. It will also address the need for strategic evaluation, protection, licensing, and technology transfer to support the growth of start-ups and early-stage companies.

Furthermore, the centre will offer a range of value-added services, including support for intellectual property rights (IPR), legal, financial, and technical advisory tailored to the specific requirements of the incubatees.

Among the companies selected as resident incubatees are AbrinAldrich Agronic Products, Bio Vastum Solutions, Tuneup08 Automotives, Vitaliz Biosciences, and Embedite. Additionally, Neuflow Energy, Bayesian Ways LLP, Biolaxi Enzymes, Kuruvi Spice, OceanLux CCU Tech, and Athmic Biotech Solutions have been chosen as Associate Incubatees.

This initiative by CSIR-NIIST is expected to provide a significant boost to the startup ecosystem by nurturing and supporting innovative technology-driven ventures.
