Exploring the Future of Technology in the UK Public Sector: Highlights from the 2024 Public Sector Emerging Technologies Online Conference

Public Sector Executive recently hosted its 2024 Public Sector Emerging Technologies Online Conference, bringing together leading voices from various sectors to discuss the latest advancements in technology and how they can be utilized in the public sector. The conference featured panels on AI and automation, ethics, privacy, regulation, big data, procurement and adoption, and digital twins.

One of the key topics of discussion was the use of AI and automation in the public sector to increase productivity while maintaining a human touch in citizen support. The panel included representatives from the National Audit Office, Health Innovation KSS, and London City Hall.

Representatives from Cheshire West and Chester Council and Nottingham City Council shared their insights on this topic.

The panel emphasized the importance of inclusivity in technology rollout and providing necessary skill training. Experts from techUK, Health Innovation Yorkshire and the Humber, and City of Wolverhampton Council shared their perspectives on this issue.

The final discussion of the day focused on digital twins and their advantages in improving efficiency, predictive capabilities, reducing costs, and enhancing citizen experiences. Representatives from Bradford Council, Connected Places Catapult, and Socitm participated in this conversation.
