OpenseedVC Raises $10 Million in First Close to Back Operators Launching Tech Companies in Africa and Europe
OpenseedVC, a London-based venture capital firm led by Europe’s first Black solo general partner, Maria Rotilu, has made waves in the investment world by raising $10 million in its first close. The firm’s mission is to invest in operators who are launching new technology companies across Africa and Europe.
Rotilu, the founder of OpenseedVC, expressed her commitment to backing talented and experienced operators from day zero. She emphasized the importance of supporting visionary and ambitious founders who are solving critical problems and building impactful solutions in the tech industry.
With only 8% of VC firms in Europe and Africa being run by former operators, OpenseedVC’s focus on providing funding and support to operators is particularly timely. The firm aims to enhance the operator network by offering access to a network of experienced individuals in key areas such as software engineering, product development, go-to-market strategy, and talent acquisition.
Looking ahead, OpenseedVC plans to invest in at least 60 startups and is currently in the process of fundraising. Rotilu has stated that the final close is expected within a year, showcasing the firm’s commitment to supporting operators in their journey to innovate and build successful technology companies.
