“Explore the World of Poop at the Canada Science and Technology Museum”
The Canada Science and Technology Museum in Ottawa is breaking boundaries with its new exhibition titled “Oh Crap! Rethinking human waste.” The exhibit, developed by the Musée de la civilisation de Québec, aims to challenge visitors’ perceptions and shed light on the importance of human waste as a valuable resource.
With over 200 artifacts, videos, immersive spaces, and interactives, the exhibition delves into the microbiology, anatomy, history, and culture of human waste. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore innovative ways in which human waste is being re-used as a sustainable resource, as well as view toilets from ancient Rome to modern Japan in the “Planet Toilets” display.
The museum hopes to spark reflection on environmental and social issues surrounding waste management, and inspire visitors to take action in their own lives. The exhibit runs until January 5, 2025, offering a unique and informative experience for all ages.
In addition to the exhibition, Ingenium has launched a new app called “Oh Crap! On the Trail of the Golden Poops,” which takes users on a scavenger hunt in downtown Ottawa to learn more about the fascinating yet taboo subject of human waste.
Director General Lisa Leblanc emphasizes the importance of addressing sanitation and waste management issues, highlighting that more than half of the world’s population lacks access to safe sanitation facilities. The museum aims to educate and inspire visitors to make a positive impact on the environment and society.
Overall, the “Oh Crap!” exhibition promises to be a fun, informative, and thought-provoking experience that encourages visitors to rethink their views on human waste and its potential as a valuable resource.
