Revolutionizing Connectivity: Hubble Network’s Bluetooth Breakthrough Reaches Space
Tech Startup Hubble Network Makes Groundbreaking Bluetooth Connection from Earth to Space
Most of us use Bluetooth technology every day for various tasks, but a tech startup called Hubble Network has taken it to a whole new level. With a recent $20 million Series A funding round, Hubble Network has managed to establish a Bluetooth connection from Earth to space.
The company recently launched its first two satellites from Vandenberg Space Force Base, which have successfully reached their orbits and are able to receive signals from Earth using a simple 3.5mm Bluetooth chip over a distance of 600 kilometers. This distance is equivalent to the distance from New York City to Boston or London to Paris.
This achievement is significant because traditional networks often struggle to provide effective coverage in remote areas, consume a lot of power, and are expensive to operate on a global scale. Hubble Network’s approach addresses these issues by allowing standard Bluetooth devices to connect to their satellite network without the need for cellular reception, simply through a software update.
The global satellite network created by Hubble Network offers global coverage with significantly lower battery consumption and operating costs. This network can be used for a variety of tasks such as wildfire detection, pet, child, and elderly safety, environmental monitoring, fleet management, and tracking of containers and pallets.
Ben Wild, co-founder and CTO of Hubble Network, stated, “Our innovative approach allows existing Bluetooth-enabled devices to transmit data to the Hubble Network without any hardware modifications, ushering in a new era of connectivity.”
With nearly five billion Bluetooth devices sold annually, the impact of this breakthrough could be enormous. While Hubble Network currently only has two satellites in orbit, they plan to add two more by early next year and an additional 32 satellites by Q1 2026. This development could revolutionize the way we use Bluetooth technology and expand its capabilities beyond what we ever thought possible.
